Youth Group Information

This Sunday, March 15th, we will be starting up our youth program again at Sovereign Hope. By God’s grace we are beginning to see an influx in junior high and high school students at Sovereign Hope and it is our goal to train these young people to be leaders and missionaries for Christ as our youth program begins to grow.

The youth group will meet in conjunction with the Evening Service schedule at Sovereign Hope. Every Evening Service Sunday (beginning every other week starting 3/15/15), Junior High will meet from 5-6pm. High School will meet every first Evening Service Sunday of each month (March 15th, April 12th, May 10th) at the same time as Jr. High. Beginning next fall, both High School and Jr. High will resume the every other week rotation along with the Evening Service.

What it Looks Like

Both groups will meet initially at 5pm in the Front Room at church and we will provide pizza for the students. After an initial social time the groups will split up into Jr. High and High School for a time of Bible study. Jr. Highers will be going through a portion of Children’s Desiring God focusing on the word of God, and High Schoolers will be going through a curriculum from Great Commission Publishers on the nature of scripture. The goal of these two studies is to set a foundation for Bible reading and Bible study next fall.

Tyler Velin will be overseeing the large scale operations of the youth program but Aric Hoffman will continue to teach Jr. High (6-8th) and Jordan Hines will teach the High School (9-12th) students. There are a number of other college students who will be helping out with both age ranges as well.

On a specific level we want to train the core students at Sovereign Hope to be leaders in this youth ministry as it begins to grow through the efforts and evangelism of the students and church itself. On a broad level we want to teach Jr. Higher students to read the Bible and become familiar with the gospel through hands on study, and we want to prepare High School students to be equipped with the gospel as the leave for college, producing healthy Christians and church members.
